YAHUKIMO - One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Infantry Battalion 6 Marines, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in the Yahukimo Regency area, Papua Pegunungan Province. On Tuesday, 10 September 2024, the Marines Task Forces conducted a Patrol to secure the area by visiting and greeting residents in the Kiribun Village, Dekai District.
Commander of the Marines Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Rismanto Manurung, left a message to the Soldiers from Logpon Post led by First Lieutenant Nico, who would conduct the patrol on Friday. The message was that every Soldier should use their assignment for positive things, not just tend to do it as a routine. While maintaining the security aspect of the Patrol, the Soldiers extended a warm invitation to the residents they met, fostering a sense of community. The Kiribun residents, particularly the children and their parents, were overjoyed at the distribution of free clothes. Feeling like they were being treated as close relatives, a Papuan mother, Ria Otimuka, expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thank you for the free clothes for our children, Mr. Marines. God bless".
Upon receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, commended the Marines Task Forces’ initiative to conduct social communication with the Kiribun community. His words: 'The Marines Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to conduct inclusive Social Communication to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region.' This recognition from the highest authority in HABEMA is not just a commendation but a testament to the significant impact of such initiatives on the region's development. It instills profound hope and optimism about their potential to shape the region's future positively. It makes the Task Forces and the community feel recognized, valued, and respected for their efforts. It gives everyone a sense of hope and optimism about the region's future development.
