Sugapa, Intan Jaya, MediaHabema – As part of their mission to protect and uplift communities, the Raider Infantry Battalion 509/Balawara Yudha Kostrad, under the HABEMA Operational Command of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), provided free health treatment to residents of Emondi Village, Sugapa District, Central Papua Province. The medical outreach took place on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, during routine security patrols near the Indonesia–Papua New Guinea border.
This humanitarian effort was led by Second Lieutenant Alvinta Sembiring from the Koper Post (a preparatory command office) as part of the TNI’s territorial program. The initiative reflects TNI’s commitment to meeting the basic needs of residents, especially in isolated regions where access to healthcare is limited.
Durg their patrol, the 509 Task Force encountered Desmira Waker, an Emondi resident suffering from a fever. Without hesitation, the Medical Team at the Koper Post provided immediate treatment and administered free medication to assist with her recovery.
Beyond medical care, the soldiers engaged with Desmira and her family, creating meaningful interactions that also allowed them to gather valuable local insights about security conditions in the area. Their actions not only addressed an urgent health issue but also strengthened trust and solidarity with the community.
